A former 5-star recruit at Georgia and a third-round pick in 2018, New York Giants pass rusher Lorenzo Carter has performed decently enough in his first two seasons, as he has managed 8.5 sacks in two years. His potential is so much higher than was we've seen so far, however.

Entering into his third year in the NFL, the versatile, speedy Carter needs to put to all together in 2020 -- and he has the tools to do so.

At Georgia, Carter was a one-man wrecking crew at times given his unique physical traits. Now that he has had some extended experience against pro tackles, Year 3 should be all about success for someone with the refined pass rush repertoire and athleticism Carter has.

Carter will likely start alongside 2019 third-rounder Oshane Ximines, who himself recorded 4.5 sacks last season. One or both of them needs to challenge for double-digit sacks for Joe Judge to be convinced they can be foundational pieces on that side of the ball.

Be it Lawrence Taylor and Leonard Marshall or Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora, the Giants have always been at their best when they have two hellraising pass rushers on the field at the same time. Carter and Ximines have a ways still to go before they can reach those lofty heights, but they will need to start producing to get this Giants defense working.
