Rex Ryan hasn't had a great Friday, has he? The former coach and current ESPN analyst had the gall to go on live television to call Dallas Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper a "turd," and when givent he chance to apologize, he minimally tempered his words before doubling down on the idea that Cooper didn't deserve the fat contract extension he signed in March.

It's all a stinking mess, and was 100% preventable. That's why Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who previously played for Ryan as a member of the Buffalo Bills, is taking the man to task for his trash take.

Hard to argue with that. Cooper has been a Pro Bowler in four of his five NFL seasons to date, and is coming off career highs in receiving yards, yards per catch, and touchdowns. And Gilmore should know a thing or two about a hard cover -- he's the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

If Stephon says you deserved your five-year, $100 million extension, you probably do.

Whatever could have possibly possessed Rex Ryan to refer to one of the finest skill players in football as a "turd" isn't known, and no one should want to know. I mean, uggghhh. In the meantime, let's pay as little attention to the former Jets and Bills boss as possible. Maybe he could embrace a little social distancing for a while.
