The New Orleans Saints had one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL in 2018, finishing eighth in total yardage. And now, it's being reported that they'll be adding another weapon to Sean Payton's attack.

After auditioning for the team during minicamp this week, the Saints have decided to sign veteran wideout Rishard Matthews to a deal, per ESPN's Field Yates.

Matthews will be added to an already loaded wideout group for the Saints, one that features the NFL's reception leader from 2018, Michael Thomas.

Matthews has bounced around the league throughout his career, playing for the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans and New York Jets during his seven seasons in the NFL. He's had his fair share of success, with his best two-year run of output coming in 2016 and '17. During those two seasons, Matthews recorded 118 total receptions for 1,740 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Last season, he saw a major decline in production, playing in only eight games and recording just 5 catches.

But if there's anyone who can help Matthews get his career back on the right track, it's Saints superstar quarterback Drew Brees. As one of the best ever to do it, he's the right kind of guy to have in your corner.
