NBA Renames All-Star Game MVP Award in Honor of Kobe Bryant

All-Star weekend has finally arrived as part of what has been a truly emotional timein the NBA. The basketball world is still mourning the loss of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, after they passed away along with seven others in a horrific helicopter crash along, and as many players and fans have honored the late legend, the NBA itself is doing it can in order to pay lasting tribute to the Back Mamba and everything he meant to the game.

On Saturday, Adam Silver announced that the award given annually to the most valuable player of the NBA All-Star game will now be known as the Kobe Bryant MVP Award.

Kobe was certainly stranger to All-Star Weekend, as he was named an amazing 18 All-Star games over the course of his 20-year career.

Notably, he was named All-Star MVP four times, more than any other player. There is simply no man who deserves this special distinction more.

Bryant's greatest performance during All-Star weekend might have been in 2011. He recorded the second triple-double in the history of the game when he tallied 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

It is only fair to name MVP of the annual NBA All-Star game after the best performer the contest has ever seen. No man could have been more deserving.
