The NWSL officially kicked off their Challenge Cup on Saturday, becoming one of the first professional leagues in the country to return to play. No one was more excited to watch the opening games than Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt, who is a super fan of his wife Kealia Ohai's team, the Chicago Red Stars.

JJ was cheering on Kealia all day on Twitter starting at 11 a.m., even though the Red Stars' game didn't begin until 10 p.m. ET. Watt was also very active in promoting the NWSL Challenge Cup and Kealia for days leading up to the opening of the tournament.

Watt didn't limit his cheerleading to just Twitter either. He posted several times on his Instagram story about Kealia and the Red Stars, even enlisting the help of real cheerleader Jerry Harris, one of the stars of the Netflix series "Cheer," to make a hype video for his wife.

Kealia was traded from the Houston Dash to the Red Stars earlier this year, and she's already proving to be an essential wide midfielder for Chicago. The team's game plan focused heavily on feeding her downfield and putting her in 1-v-1 situations against opposing defenders. She had an assist taken away in the first half after being called offside, much to the chagrin of her husband.

Kealia also joined every other member of the Red Stars in kneeling before the national anthem, which JJ has also recently expressed support for within the NFL. While the Red Stars were ultimately defeated 2–1 by the Washington Spirit, it was a big night for the NWSL, and it means a lot to see a well-known NFL star like JJ enthusiastically supporting women's sports.

Kealia will be back on the field on Wednesday against the Portland Thorns, and we're sure that JJ will be parked on the couch again to cheer her on. Zach and Julie Ertz had better watch their backs, because these two are quickly becoming one of our favorite sports power couples.
