The Didi Gregorius era in New York is officially over, as the shortstop decided to join the Philadelphia Phillies after the Yankees chose to move forward with Gleyber Torres, DJ LeMahieu and Gio Urshela in the infield.

Didi thanked Yankees fans for "letting him grow" in his five season stint in the Bronx, while bizarrely appreciating the fans who booed him, as it pushed him to be better.

This is pretty unusual as far as farewell social media posts go, but it works coming from the enigmatic Gregorius.

Gregorius, looking to rebound after the worst offensive campaign he had in his last four seasons in pinstripes, inked a one-year deal with the Phillies, which will reunite him with manager Joe Girardi.

Hopefully Didi is able to rediscover whatever sort of Girardi-created spark that helped mold him into one of the best shortstops in baseball.

It wasn't always pretty, and he was saddled with the unreasonable expectations that come with following a player like Derek Jeter, but Didi was a solid offensive and defensive contributor for a team that was consistently making the playoffs for five years, all the while becoming an almost elite shortstop.
