It hasn't exactly been an ideal start to the 2019 season for Ben Zobrist. He's struggled at the onset of the season and has since taken a leave of absence from the Chicago Cubs because of a personal matter, which wasn't revealed until recently.

Zobrist's wife Julianna filed for divorce in Cook County, Ill., as court documents showed on Wednesday, and the Cubs utilityman followed shortly after, claiming that Julianna “has been guilty of inappropriate marital conduct, which rendered further cohabitation impossible.”

In sharp contrast, the former Mrs. Zobrist citing “irreconcilable differences.”

This comes as Zobrist, who is currently hitting .241 with 10 RBI during the final year of his deal with the Cubs, was placed on administrative leave and wasn't given a concrete timetable.

Julianna, a singer who sung the National Anthem at one of the team's 2016 World Series Game, deleted her Twitter account and removed some images with her husband on her Instagram profile.

It remains unclear if or when Zobrist will return to the team, as baseball is a completely secondary issue for him right now.
