Dell Curry Reveals He Told Warriors Not to Take Steph in the 2009 NBA Draft

Imagine if Steph Curry was never drafted by Golden State. What if he ended up somewhere else? Let's say... the Knicks? Would Steph be the All-Star scoring machine that we know and love today?

Luckily for Warriors fans they don't have to worry about that alternate possibility. But according to Steph's father, Dell, the family actually did want him in New York. And that's what the patriarch himself told the Warriors organization point blank ahead of the 2009 draft.

When Warriors coach Don Nelson called Dell and asked for his honest opinion of Steph and the possibility of picking him at No. 7 overall, Dell had one response: don't.

Of course, despite Mr. Curry's attempt at dissuading the Warriors, they drafted him anyway-- and the rest continues to be history. Since being selected by the Dubs, Steph has been a six-time All-Star, two-time league MVP, and three-time NBA champ.

I would say this whole Warriors thing has worked out pretty well for Steph and his family up to this point. Kudos to Nelly for opting to ignore dad's advice.
