Chiefs Star Travis Kelce Explains Why He’s Fired up to Visit White House After Super Bowl Win

Ever since Donald Trump was voted in as President of the United States, there has been -- for obvious reasons -- no shortage of controversy surrounding the tradition of championship teams visiting the White House.

Moments after the Kansas City Chiefs toppled the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, several players were asked if they intended on joining the team's eventual trip to the nation's capital. Even Andy Reid revealed his plans to attend.

One player we had yet to hear from regarding the ever-touchy subject was tight end Travis Kelce. Well, the two-time All-Pro recently took to Twitter to explain the rationale behind his settlement.

TMZ reporters recently caught up with the 30-year-old star and he didn't hesitate to reveal his excitement for the trip. Given the sheer polarizing opinions on Trump, that utterance was unsurprisingly met with a healthy dose of backlash.

Kelce noted that he's throwing his political views aside and is merely embracing being recognized as a world champion. As far as we're concerned, that's a pretty even-keeled approach to such a controversial matter.

Perhaps other professional athletes around the country will adopt this athlete-first, politician-second philosophy, but we wouldn't count on it. Trump is simply that contentious.
