This showdown comes with huge implications, both for championship supremacy and Canelo's ongoing for generational pound-for-pound supremacy.

Alvarez (51-1-2, 35 knockouts), a 28-year-old out of Guadalajara, remains on an ascent toward all-time glory. He hasn't lost since he took on Floyd Mayweather six years ago at the 154-pound light middleweight level. He's beaten the likes of Miguel Cotto, Amir Khan, ​and Gennady Golovkin over that span, the last of whom famously dropped Jacobs (35-2, 29 KOs) two years.


Since then, however, Brooklyn's 32-year-old Miracle Man has taken three victories on the trot by decision. The more natural fighter of the two at 160 pounds, Jacobs' best hope against the likes in his height and reach advantage against the increasingly well-rounded Canelo, who proved against GGG ​that he's much more than just a counter-attacker.

Canelo is a significant favorite in this one, but Jacobs isn't the least bit skittish-- even if things don't go his away early, this cancer survivor the last guy you can expect to panic. Get strapped in, fight fans. Make sure there's copious popcorn ready.
