UFC Fight Night Ottawa Preview
Cowboy enters on a high having absolutely obliterated Alexander Hernandez back in January at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Despite his 36 years of age, the UFC iron man won three of his last four fights after losing all three of his engagements in 2017 and had been increasingly backed as a potential future opponent for Conor McGregor before the controversial Irishman announced his retirement.
Iaquinta, 32, has had a far more consistent go at it over the last few years and is a slight betting favorite. He's won seven of his previous eight in the Octagon, falling only to pound-for-pound monster Khabib Nurmagomedov by decision on admittedly short notice. His last time out, he earned Performance of the Night honors from UFC in dispatching Kevin Lee in Milwaukee on Dec. 15.
Elsewhere on the main card, don't miss Derek Brunson vs Elias Theodoru in middleweight action, plus the featherweight bout between Cub Swanson vs Shane Burgos.
Cerrone vs Iaquinta Prediction
Cowboy pulls the upset by a non-unanimous decision. The man with more wins and total fights than any other competitor in UFC will keep turning back the clock against Ragin' Al, who will have underestimated his opponent to his own detriment.
