Death, taxes, and Alabama pass rushers getting drafted to a team in need of some speed on the edge.
Ron Rivera and the Carolina Panthers used the 115th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft on Crimson Tide rush linebacker Christian Miller, who will pair with first round pick Brian Burns to make for a hellish duo in the outside.
At pick 115, the Carolina Panthers have selected Alabama linebacker/defensive end Christian Miller, per source— Jourdan Rodrigue (@JourdanRodrigue) April 27, 2019
A former 5-star recruit who was buried behind legions of NFL bodies, Miller was able to show his stuff during the second half of this season. Carolina is going to get a refined pass rusher with several NFL quality moves, an explosive player off the snap, and a solid run defender. Miller is still a bit on the raw side, but this is excellent value for Carolina in the fourth round.
While Burns is almost guaranteed a starting role, Miller could make an impact during his rookie season as a speedy counterpart off the edge in sub packages. By Year 2, Miller could easily be a starter.
