Patriots fans, could 2019 be the year your team finds its successor to Tom Brady?
Considering New England's star quarterback is on the precipice of retiring, especially since Brady will be 42 in August, the Patriots need to find the player that will be the face of the franchise after their quarterback hangs up his jersey for the last time.
With several promising quarterback prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft, it seems like the Patriots are showing a growing interest in Duke quarterback Daniel Jones, who could be the franchise quarterback New England needs to move into a post-Tom Brady era.
Patriots fans, how do we feel about this? Jones' 2018 season with the Blue Devils was fairly unimpressive, pairing 22 touchdowns with nine interceptions.
However, there's still great potential in the Duke product and if Jones is still around when New England picks first at No. 32 overall, he might be the perfect value selection when the Patriots are on the clock.
Many fans are currently doubting Jones' ability to translate in the NFL, but if Jones is drafted by Bill Belichick and the rest of the New England front office, expect those doubts to evaporate quickly considering he'll be learning from the best and won't be thrown into the fire right out of the gate.
No one knows quarterbacks with a chip on their shoulder quite like Belichick, so if Jones ends up with the Patriots next Thursday, just pencil him in for the 2023 NFL MVP.
