The Penguins signed Jack Johnson to a five-year deal this offseason. FIVE YEARS! The aging defenseman who couldn't buy playing time in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2018 has been forced into action for Pittsburgh this postseason due to, frankly, a lack of competent warm bodies. It isn't going well for the Penguins.
One of my favorite 10 second Jack Johnson clips. Steps up high in the zone for an unnecessary hit and lets two guys below the net. Then he effectively loses everyone and leaves Jordan Eberle all alone for a grade A scoring chance. pic.twitter.com/Anrjn1qaE9— Jim (@SportsingJim) April 17, 2019
What are you doing?!
Johnson not only steps up in the zone and almost takes a bad penalty, he abandons his man, one Jordan Eberle, which ends up becoming a high-quality scoring chance. Wash, rinse and repeat for Pittsburgh.
