He did it! Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis had been in the slump of slumps, going hitless in his first 33 at-bats of the 2019 season and not recording a hit until September of last year. But finally, on April 13, Davis hit a screaming line drive to knock in two runs for the O's.
It was Davis' first hit over his last 55 at-bats, an MLB record, and you can imagine the weight lifted off his shoulders. People were paying attention to his at-bats for the wrong reason. Now he just go out and try to be Crush Davis, who not that long ago belted 53 home runs in one season.
Happy for Chris Davis, getting his first hit since Sept. 14. Christian Yelich and Anthony Rendon both got 43 hits in those 7 months when Davis was getting no hits. But the big shocker is that Freddy Galvis got 42!— Jayson Stark (@jaysonst) April 13, 2019
Sadly, he was one of the reasons people were paying attention to Orioles baseball, but did you know they entered Saturday's matchup tied with the defending champion Boston Red Sox?
