Odell Beckham Jr. got us all hot and bothered late Wednesday, only to pour a spot of cold water on our enthusiasm.

First, the new Browns star WR tweeted that he'd seen the NFL's new schedule, and immediately roused us with a message that seemed to indicate something monstrous. A return to face the Giants isn't on the docket, so maybe...a Sunday night opener against the Patriots?

Turns out, after a minor scope through the rest of his chatterings, that OBJ plans to face off against New York's other squad during the season's first week, gifted a battle with the redesigned Jets.

Just check out what he commented on Jamal Adams' IG activity.

OK, that's not bad at all.

The New York factor, the recent history of these two teams...we can get into it.

Of course, the Jets served as the punching bag last season for Baker Mayfield's coming out party, with a fourth-quarter surge and tough road performance from Sam Darnold setting the tone for a next-generation QB battle.

Now that Mayfield's WR room has become significantly juiced up, we consider this a fitting way to open the new league slate. Guess the Pats will have to beat up on some other patsy while this battle rages. No worries.
