While he hasn't come out and declared that he will be hanging it up at the end of the season, it is widely expected that this will be Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki's final season in the NBA. While Dirk is no longer the same player that was winning championships or MVPs, he can still show off his athleticism when he wants to, as evidenced by this dunk that sent Dallas into a frenzy.
If that doesn't give you chills, I don't know what will.
Nowitzki and the Mavericks have been alluding to Dirk's retirement without outright saying it. The "41.21.1" phrase (a reference to his number, number of seasons as a Maverick, and the fact he only played for one team) that crops up on Dallas' social media could be hinting at something big related to Dirk's future plans.
If this is truly it for No. 41, the Mavericks are at least set up well for the future with, ironically, two international players in Slovenian Luka Doncic and Latvian Kristaps Porzingis. The legacy of Dirk will hang over this franchise for a long time.
