It's not a great time to be a Red Sox fan. The defending champs are suddenly, shockingly 2-8 after suffering a defeat to the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday night on a Carson Kelly walk-off single.

And while the mood is one of devastation around New England, the New York Yankees couldn't be happier. Starting with veteran outfielder Brett Gardner, who delighted in twisting the knife on the occasion.

It's not hard to imagine the delight on Gardy's face as he fired off this NSFW riff.

The Yankees were busy toasting their 6-4 comeback win on the road against the Baltimore Orioles, a decision that got them back up to .500 and three games ahead of the struggling Sox in the AL East. Seeing Aaron Judge knock two homers and young gun Clint Frazier contribute a go-ahead blast of his own surely would have made for a sweet enough night, but the universe has a strange way about things sometimes.

You can't blame Gardner for milking this one for all it was worth. The Yanks and Sox don't open their first regular season series for nine more days, but the rivalry is already cooking.
