You have to love athletes that are unabashedly themselves, and Jets safety Jamal Adams certainly doesn't shy away from his confident personality.
While talking about the newest addition to New York's roster, running back Le'Veon Bell, Adams compared himself to LeBron James, citing how his recruiting skills helped bring Bell to East Rutherford this offseason.
Jamal Adams, talking last night about new teammate Le’Veon Bell: “I knew he was coming, man. Hey, just call me LeBron, just call me LeBron. I’m a helluva recruiter.” The $27M guarantee might have had something to do with it as well. #Jets— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) April 5, 2019
Still, the 23-year-old safety had a successful offseason of recruitment, more-so than James with the Lakers. It's pretty hilarious to see Adams making such an intrepid comparison between himself and one of the greatest NBA players of all time.
While Adams has the nickname of The President, James' still reigns supreme, being labelled around NBA circles as The King.
If only the LSU product could only have convinced Anthony Barr to sign with the Jets and not return to the Vikings. Then, Adams may have truly earned his self-proclaimed title.
Le'Veon Bell on @TheAdamsEra recruiting: "Jamal did his thing. He was texting me, tweeting me... Instagram.... It meant everything in the world to me... that he wanted me that much. It was definitely a huge part. He made it happen."— Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) March 14, 2019
Adams has helped the Jets
However, if the team can't win a championship like LeBron's teams have done in the NBA, the safety will have to work a little bit harder as a recruiter until we can consider him even close to the status of King James.
