Are the New York Giants just collectively on another planet?

Despite years of film to tell us otherwise, everyone from GM Dave Gettleman to head coach Pat Shurmur to tight end Evan Engram is asserting that over-the-hill quarterback Eli Manning is still just as good as when he was leading them to Super Bowls.

They can't possibly expect us to believe this. But here we are.

“Eli picks up every blitz, he knows who’s coming," Engram said. "We hold protection meetings. He still can throw the ball and drive the ball down the field and give us opportunities to go up and make plays. So, 100 percent, he still has it.

Is Engram even watching his own team on film?

Eli never had an Aaron Rodgers arm or Drew Brees accuracy. But last year, at age 37, he couldn't have looked more different from the man who won two Super Bowls.

Despite a solid crop of young quarterbacks available in the draft and a potential franchise guy in Josh Rosen on the block, the Giants seem bizarrely devoted to the declining Eli Manning. Buckle up, Giants fans. 2019 could get ROUGH.
