The Eagles are getting the band back together! Philly Philly!
Philadelphia didn't repeat as champions, but they were clearly missing their secret weapon: Vinny Curry. The defensive lineman signed with the Buccaneers
Curry is reportedly finalizing a deal to head back to the NFC East.
It's like he never left.
During his one year in Tampa Bay, Curry played in 12 games and started seven, finishing the season with 21 total tackles, five for a loss, and a 2.5 sacks. That isn't far off from his numbers in Philadelphia, but the Buccaneers were clearly interested in heading in a different direction. For Philly, they now bring in a player who can immediately contribute to an already stacked defensive end corp.
There's no reason to fix what's not broken. The Eagles had a dominant defensive line during their title run and are now going to have an extremely similar rotation to the one they had in 2017.
So, as of now, the #Eagles defensive end rotation is going to look exactly as it did in 2017: Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett, Chris Long (if he returns), Vinny Curry.— Zack Rosenblatt (@ZackBlatt) March 21, 2019
If the Eagles win another title, do we just name Curry the backbone of this team? It's hard to argue at that point.
