In the wake of the Cleveland Browns signing former disgraced Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, the NFL has officially stepped in to dole out the suspension both parties surely knew was looming.
Hunt was released by the Chiefs after video surfaced of him kicking a woman in a domestic dispute last February. Midway through an eventual playoff push, the Chiefs cut Hunt due to public outrage and a supposed moral fiber.
With his new team, Hunt won't be able to suit up until Week 9.

As for the on-field impact of Hunt's suspension in Cleveland, this was expected by the team when they made the move. The Browns have a stable of backfield depth led by Nick Chubb and potentially Duke Johnson should they choose not to move the rapidly-improving scat-back this offseason.
The #Browns had expected 8 to 10 games for RB Kareem Hunt when they signed him. It turns out to be 8, as the league says Hunt accepts the punishment and did not appeal.

Hunt has undeniable talent, but his actions off the field are so troubling that most teams rightfully had no interest in signing the 26-year-old from the outset. With John Dorsey and the Browns undeterred, they now wait until midseason to unveil one of the best backfields in the NFL.
