After major losses in free agency the Baltimore Ravens have made another big move, but this time it's on the offensive side of the ball.
Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the two-time Pro Bowler and the Baltimore Ravens will be inking a three-year deal worth $15 million.
The 29-year-old back appears to still have something left in the tank after putting up respectable numbers in 2018 despite a diminished role and a four-game suspension to start the season. In 12 games with the Saints, Ingram rushed for 645 yards and six touchdowns.
With respect to Gus Edwards, Ingram will provide the Ravens with an upgrade in the backfield as a reliable power runner who can get them some tough yards in the trenches. The former first-round pick and Heisman Trophy winner has a career average of 4.5 yards per carry, and has 50 career touchdowns on the ground.
Mark Ingram was 2018's 14th highest-graded running back, fully equipped with the 8th-highest rush-grade among qualified RBs last year. https://t.co/ze03dxK4gg— Pro Football Focus (@PFF) March 13, 2019
Not to mention the nine-year veteran should help a Ravens team that really struggled in the red zone offensively last year. Ingram will also take some pressure off of second-year QB Lamar Jackson who can't continue to have the amount of rushing attempts he had in year one.
