On the same night the New York Giants traded Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns, the other New York team made an equally momentous move at the onset of the new league year.
Former Steelers’ RB Le’Veon Bell plans to sign with…the New York Jets, a league source tells ESPN— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 13, 2019
The Jets went out there and just stomped Giants fans into the ground as they were already down for the count after losing their best player. The baby brother New York team could very well be a contender with all of the moves they've made this offseason.
Here are the financials of the deal:
Le’Veon Bell: 4 years, $52.5 million with the Jets, per source.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 13, 2019
Steal for the Jets.
$35M guaranteed for Le’Veon Bell in New York. Probably not what he was anticipating.— NFL Update (@MySportsUpdate) March 13, 2019
Hmm, not quite the amount he was looking for, so perhaps holding out for a full year and passing up over $14 million wasn't the best idea, but the past is the past, and Le'Veon Bell is going to be a NEW YORK JET.
Get ready for the party in the Big Apple!
Bell will join an offense led by young gun Sam Darnold and look to make a splash after not playing for an entire season. Perhaps with a new home and under new leadership with a pretty loaded defense, Bell will get back on track before we know it.
