On Monday night, absurd scenes erupted in Utah when Russell Westbrook launched an NSFW threat at a Jazz fan after an alleged racist comment was directed toward the Thunder point guard.

The league followed up by banning the fan, identified as Shane Keisel, from Vivint Smart Home Arena for life and fining Brodie $25,000

It appears as though the general public and media are on Westbrook's side and one of those individuals is former NBA champion Matt Barnes, who took to Twitter in typical Matt Barnes style to defend Russ.

Barnes has NEVER been one to shy away from speaking his mind and that remained true here.

He first uttered the claim about Jazz fans after Westbrook got into an altercation with a fan while walking out of Vivint Smart Home Arena following the Thunder's elimination in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs at the hands of Utah in 2018.

Barnes may have a unique personality, but the man spent 16 years in the Association. The 39-year-old has seen it all and we undoubtedly value his opinion.

The situation, for the most part, is behind us but that's not to say commissioner Adam Silver won't institute some form of policy to prevent player abuse from fans at some point in the future.
