As the old saying goes, "The rich keep getting richer", and Clemson most certainly just added to its wealth.
Monday Afternoon, 4-star 2020 offensive tackle Mitchell Mayes announced his commitment to the Tigers on Twitter.
Mayes, who measures in at 6-5, 315 pounds, was ranked as the 17th best offensive tackle in his class and 149th overall by Rivals. Mayes becomes the eighth recruit, and seventh 4-star recruit in the 2020 class to verbally commit to Clemson.
It's also worth noting Mayes is the third 4-star offensive lineman from the 2020 class to commit to the Tigers.
Mayes is a big pull for Clemson, not because he is truly a standout recruit, but because of the other colleges they beat out to get him. Clemson managed to land Mayes over SEC powerhouses Auburn and Georgia, as well as Penn State from the Big Ten.
