New information of the Bryce Harper free agency saga has emerged.
According to reports, the San Francisco Giants met with Harper and his agent Scott Boras out in Las Vegas for the second time in a matter of weeks.
Source confirms that the Giants indeed met with Bryce Harper and Scott Boras in Las Vegas on Tuesday. @KO_Crowley was first to report the meeting, which is the second between the two parties.— Mark Feinsand (@Feinsand) February 27, 2019
Giants CEO Larry Baer and president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi were the prominent figures who met with Harper for second time. Zaidi believed there was mutual interest after their first meeting early in February, and this second meeting only backs that point up.
The terms of a deal are unknown, but San Francisco has reportedly extended Harper at least one contract offer.
The Giants are the third team to send representatives to Las Vegas this week to meet with Harper, along with the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Phillies appear to be the most aggressive in their pursuit of the former MVP, as owner John Middleton flew out to Vegas, but the Dodgers are right in the mix and it has the Phillies worried that LA is the favorite at this point if they make a similar large contract offer.
