The Year of Gritty continues, and we can't get enough of it.

The nightmare-inducing mascot for the Philadelphia Flyers took centerstage during Saturday night's NHL Stadium Series game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Lincoln Financial Field. Gritty took it up a notch by streaking around the rink before being apprehended by officials. The Flyers would erase a two-goal deficit in the final three minutes to win the game in OT, 4-3.

Gritty helped to kick off the festivities when he jumped off the top of the stadium and bungeed down to the ground while the music from Rocky welcomed the Flyers onto the ice.

After being revealed as the Flyers mascot, Gritty became an overnight sensation online and has since become one of the most popular mascots in all professional sports.

Gritty has provided a positive atmosphere inside of Wells Fargo Center, something this season has sorely lacked. The Flyers have been retooling their roster over the past few seasons and are seven points out of a wild card spot, making their playoff chances unlikely.

It's a shame that Gritty won't be allowed back to the Linc as streakers are banned for life from venues. Although, that usually only applies to human streakers, so we'll see how it is addressed in the future.

In Gritty we trust.
