Kevin Durant

Five fits for Kevin Durant next season

Last offseason, we saw superstars like LeBron James and DeMarcus Cousins sign with different teams while Kawhi Leonard and DeMar DeRozan swap jerseys to start off the season.

This upcoming summer is no different. There will be many star free agents available but the top guy every team will go after is Kevin Durant.

The resume speaks for itself. A two-time NBA Champion, 2014 MVP, 10 time All-Star and multiple time All-NBA team selection, there is no doubt Durant is a star and will make any team better.

But where does he fit best? Here are five of the best fits for Kevin Durant.

5. Washington Wizards

An unlikely choice off the bat because of the salary cap. Durant was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in the area, so say he comes home and takes the Wizards for a deep playoff and potential finals appearance, the D.C. fans would want him to become the mayor.

Like stated earlier the salary cap is the problem here. John Wall and Bradley Beal take up most of the cap but majority of their roster are free agents after this season.

4. Utah Jazz

Not a team everyone thinks about but from a basketball point of view, this fit could be very interesting.

Durant teaming with rising star Donovan Mitchell could make a great 1-2 scoring punch and Rudy Gobert would handle the defensive end.

Utah is a superstar away from being a complete squad and KD can potentially change that.

3. Brooklyn Nets

If Durant wants to play in New York but does not want the pressure of playing in Madison Square Garden, Brooklyn could be a decent option for him.

Young guys like D’Angelo Russell and Jarrett Allen can certainly benefit from playing with a superstar like KD. With that much talent and a ton of cap space, this may be a good destination.

2. Golden State Warriors

There is always a possibility that KD ends up staying with the Golden State Warriors. Since joining The Bay Area two years ago, he has led the team to back-2-back NBA Championships.

The salary could get tricky with guys like Klay Thompson and Draymond Green looking for long-term contracts but the Warriors plan has worked so well for Durant, why change that?

1. New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are the best fit for Kevin Durant. New York is in desperate need for a superstar and Durant fits that mold. The Knicks traded away Kristaps Porzingis and brought in a few cheap and expiring contracts which led to have a lot of spending money in the 2019 offseason.

New York has the second most cap space right now and may not mind giving a guy like Kevin Durant a max-level contract.
