With spring training action starting for the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, the team was hoping to get shortstop Dansby Swanson back in time.

Recent reports have stated the opposite, however, as Swanson is still not ready to return to the field following his offseason wrist surgery.

This is disappointing news for the Braves, as it would have been nice to bring Swanson back ahead of schedule in order to shake off some rust and build cohesion with the unit. Instead, Swanson has not even been cleared to participate in live batting practice.

The hope now is to get him back by April and have him shake off the rust during the beginning of the season.

Swanson had an up-and-down season last year, with his best weeks coming before the injury affected his play. If Swanson is able to return to his form pre-injury, the Braves will be a scary unit once again. Last year, Swanson hit .238, with 14 homers and 59 RBI.
