UNC's stunningly-impressive freshman scorer Coby White has plenty of motivation to tear apart Duke on Wednesday night.
After all, who wouldn't want to beat their childhood team after they passed on him?
We learned some specifics of White's childhood Duke fandom on Monday, and though it's all painful to hear for Carolina diehards, it should do nothing but motivate him moving forward.
#UNC’s Coby White said he grew up a Duke fan and his favorite moment was when Austin Rivers hit the buzzer beater three to beat the Heels.— Ross Martin (@RossMartin_IC) February 18, 2019
Yes, White's favorite moment of his childhood was Austin Rivers' frenzied comeback and buzzer-beater in 2012 (feel old yet?!).
But, if he grew up a Cameron Crazy, something must have scorned him to send him 'cross-town to Carolina. Clearly, the enthusiasm was coming from one recruiting team over the other. Though the road contest may be intimidating at first, with White harkening back to his youthful obsession in the heat of battle, he should be laser-focused on performing in front of the fan base he once considered himself a part of.
Imagine the energy when they meet at the Dean Dome later this year, too. Chills.
Perhaps there's a Rivers-like moment in White's future, too? Ideally it doesn't go so far down to the wire.
