The San Diego Padres are making it known to the rest of the MLB that they mean business.

It's been reported that the Padres have made enormous contract offers to both free agent shortstop Manny Machado and right fielder Bryce Harper

The market for the two superstars has been fairly dry up until recently, with the report that the Padres are serious coming only soon after it was reported that the Phillies were closing in on a deal with Harper.

The Padres offer could be larger than the Phillies, but they might be too late, as it seems Harper to the city of brotherly love is very close to happening.

If the Padres were to land both Machado and Harper, or even just one of them, it would be massive news for the organization. The team struggled mightily last season, ending at the bottom of the NL West with a 66-96 record.

As for the players, both of them should take their sweet time making their decisions, despite the wrath of fans.
