Earlier today, Davante Adams took to Twitter to let his fans know that even though the NFL season might be over, he's still open.
And while no current NFL players challenged his statement, Chad Johnson, the retired wide receiver, responded by letting him know that he could lock him down in coverage nine out of 10 times.
Adams, of course, spoke his mind back.
Nobody in the league can do it and u think YOU can?!?!臘♂️— Davante Adams (@tae15adams) February 15, 2019
Johnson has always been known to make statements that he could still play in the NFL today, but this one might just be the most outrageous to date.
Adams just had a career year in Green Bay, hauling in 111 receptions for a career-high 1,386 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. Adams was named to the Pro Bowl and is in prime position to be Aaron Rodgers' No. 1 target for years to come.
Adams put up over 100 yards on star corners such as Darius Slay and Richard Sherman, while also putting up over 200 yards over two outings against the Bears' league-best defense. If these guys couldn't slow Adams down, I don't know what makes Chad Johnson, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2011, think he can lock up the star receiver.
I’ve studied your releases & lateral movement, i can see things DB’s can’t, line it up whenever you start training & you won’t get open 🔒 https://t.co/knLflhQX1p— Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) February 15, 2019
Johnson has never been one to back down from a challenge, and even though it doesn't seem likely the two hash this out on the field, it would be nice to see Adams leave Johnson in the dust a couple times.
