Just a few hours before we were all set for fight night, UFC fans got some devastating news.

Set to fight Kelvin Gastelum Saturday night, Robert Whittaker will instead remain on the sidelines at UFC 234. He's out with an abdominal injury.

No big deal. That's just one main event ruined. Great. Cool.

Whittaker's supposedly dealing with a hernia, and his health will deny us a chance to watch him defend his UFC Middleweight title. He entered as a heavy -220 favorite, and his bout with Gastelum would've capped off the evening's entertainment, likely starting just after midnight (the show begins at 10:00 pm EST).

This would've been Whittaker's first official defense of his title; his bout with Yoel Romero at UFC 225 was downgraded to a non-title affair when Romero failed to make weight.

Fans around the world will have to continue to wait, and this rumble in Melbourne, Australia just got downgraded itself.
