Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman said goodbye to his beard on live TV, with Ellen doing the honors. Gotta love it. "It's like a child," the Patriots receiver said. "It grows on you." Despite the "nine months of hard work", Edelman allowed Ellen to shave his trademark facial hair in her pop-up barbershop for charity, raising $10,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Boston. Not only did he agree to part ways with the beard, he also matched the donation.

Edelman of course is coming off of a 10-catch, 141-yard performance in a Super Bowl victory over the Los Angeles Rams that earned him MVP honors.

The three-time Super Bowl champ took some time to explain what the award meant to himself as well as his family, telling Ellen, “Just winning the game is what you want. But getting the MVP is kind of a win for me and my other team, and that’s my family... My father was a tough, hard-nosed guy who, you know, didn’t have a father and pushed me to limits I never thought I’d get to. And my mother, being the loving little lady that she is, I was never late to a practice. She was always there.”

The beloved slot receiver is having quite the offseason thus far.

After the Super Bowl, he and quarterback Tom Brady went to Disney World before celebrating with the rest of their team on a celebratory duck boat parade through Boston. Qui
