LSU currently boast one of the best recruiting classes in college football and they did it by luring a lot of out-of-state players to their program. One of those players is Maurice Hampton, a 4-star recruit out of Memphis, TN.

Hampton was ranked as the No. 1 recruit out of the state of Tennessee and the No. 14 defensive back in the country. LSU was able to bring him aboard as the 6-0, 205 pound defensive back has officially signed with the team, spurning his home-state SEC side, the Tennessee Volunteers.

Hampton had initially committed to LSU in July of 2016, and despite the early commitment, the Memphis native has honored his agreement and will be joining the Tigers for the 2019 season.

Hampton had visits with various programs including Ole Miss, UCLA and Auburn but ultimately decided to join Ed Orgeron and his staff at LSU.

It's a great feeling to be able to bring in top quality out-of-state recruits, especially when you can snag a top prospect from a rival school. The Volunteers will surely be disappointed that they couldn't coax Hampton Jr. to Knoxville, and instead will be facing off against him.
