Kristaps Porzingis only recently made it seem as if he wanted out of New York, but it looks like the Knicks front office got busy, and fast. The Latvian appears to be on his way out of New York as the Knicks and Mavericks are reportedly finalizing a deal to send Porzingis to Dallas.
According to reports, the Knicks would send Porzingis to the Mavericks for a package centered around second-year point guard Dennis Smith Jr. The deal is reported to have DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews, Smith Jr., and a 2019 first-round pick in exchange for Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee and Kristaps Porzingis.

Wait! Let's add one more player for good measure.
Trey Burke is the final player piece, per source. https://t.co/JWvgMo75CA— Kevin O'Connor (@KevinOConnorNBA) January 31, 2019
And TWO future first-round picks for the Knicks.

Wow. That was insanely fast.
It was just a matter of hours between Porzingis' meeting with the Knicks and the team's decision to ship off their former No. 4 overall pick. Porzingis has been sidelined all season while recovering from a torn ACL.
This is great news for Knicks fans however, as they will be getting a decent compensation in exchange for their star player, while also shedding some salaries in the process. Believed to be heading to Dallas in the deal would be Courtney Lee and Tim Hardaway, which frees up a lot of cap space. DeAndre Jordan's deal is also expiring, which will free up even more.
The Knicks would also receive future first-round draft compensation from the Mavericks and, by shedding the contracts of Hardaway and Lee, create the salary-cap space this summer to pursue two maximum contract free agents— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) January 31, 2019
The combination of Porzingis and Doncic will be one of the most exciting tandems in the NBA in 2019, assuming Porzingis sits out the remainder of the year while nursing his ACL.
As for the Knicks, they're clearly setting themselves up for a big draft and free agency period.
