Rumors hit the MLB that the Phillies would sign Bryce Harper to a mega contract on Tuesday, yet as the day stretches on, those comments look like more and more like misinformation than facts.

Sources from across the league had claimed that the Phils and Harper had an agreement in place and would make the official announcement on this very day, but some of the most trustworthy sources in the sport have shot down the validity of those rumors.

It seems that the never-ending saga of Bryce Harper's free agency will continue beyond Tuesday, as the league and its fans anxiously await the announcement of the 26-year-old's signing.

The superstar was expected to receive a massive contract in free agency from one of a variety of suitors, though thus far, no team has been willing to offer him to lucrative deal he's after.

With just a few weeks remaining until position players report to their respective team camps, both of the top dogs of free agency remain unsigned, with neither Manny Machado nor Harper having reached an agreement with a team.

Many were suggesting (and maybe even hoping) that the Phillies and Harper had a real agreement to announce, but it seems that there was no substance to those rumors. The wait continues, and it seems that this signing is going to go down to the wire.
