The New York Jets are looking for a new identity.
The team fired head coach Todd Bowles in order to bring in Adam Gase, formerly of the Miami Dolphins, to help take quarterback Sam Darnold's talents to the next level. On top of that, the Jets front office has a boatload of money to spend in free agency.
Now, they are on the verge of undergoing an identity change in terms of uniforms. Potential uniform schemes were leaked on social media on Wednesday, and quite frankly, they're terrible.
Yikes. Not going to lie, you get plenty of Oregon Ducks vibes when looking at the font size and stripe scheme (without the feathers). Even the "NY" design on the left pectoral region sticks out, but for all the wrong reasons. It's like someone wrote over a spelling error with a permanent pen.
Perhaps what makes the uniforms appear even more awful than they already are is the helmet designs. Just think of the old school Philadelphia Eagles helmets, but uglier.
Talk about a bland design.
It's highly doubtful that these are the uniforms the Jets will rock in the 2019 season. The team has teased the release of the updated look to go along with the redirection of the franchise, and fans will be waiting with bated breath before they're released.
If we're going to be completely honest, just make the color rush uniforms their new primaries. Boom, problem solved.
