After weeks of speculation as to who the Atlanta Braves would acquire to fill that hole in the corner outfield, they decided to bring back a familiar face instead.
Fill your own hole, sir!
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Braves have re-signed All-Star right fielder Nick Markakis to a one-year, $6 million deal.

The deal also includes a club option worth $6 million for the 2020 season, along with a $2 million buyout. Markakis will earn $4 million in 2019, and with the buyout, he'll have $6 million of guaranteed money.

Markakis is coming off a career-year at the perfect time, but his free agent market never materialized, sending him back to Atlanta on an extreme discount. The 34-year-old made $11 million last year and is receiving only a fraction of that in 2019.
I was convinced the Braves would give Markakis a two-year deal this winter, but I was 100% convinced he was coming back so I'll take partial credit. https://t.co/8C2HgwY31E— Craig Calcaterra (@craigcalcaterra) January 22, 2019
He played in all 162 games last season, slashing .297/.366/.440 with 59 extra-base hits (14 home runs) and 93 RBI, which earned him his first All-Star appearance and Silver Slugger Award.
