Carson Wentz had his season shut down early as he dealt with a back injury, but the Eaglesstarting quarterback is reportedly on track to be healthy enough to take part in the team's offseason training program.

Wentz had a stress fracture in his back, which sidelined him for the last five weeks of the NFL season, as Nick Foles took his place and led the team to the Divisional Round. But with Doug Pederson reiterating Wentz is the QB of the future, this injury news is great for Eagles fans.

Wentz will be hoping to bounce back in 2019 and keep himself on the field without sustaining further injury. He'll be back in action in April and working toward getting back on the field in 2019.

The Eagles are expected to trade Foles this offseason and end the QB discussion for good, which will hopefully culminate with Wentz getting back on the field when he's expected to.

When the offseason kicks off and the Eagles get their program underway, Wentz should be at the forefront of the team's focus as the former No. 2 overall pick will need to prove he's the type of QB that dominated the majority of the 2017 season.

If he has a strong campaign, Wentz could be in line for a huge contract extension from the Eagles after the 2019 season.
