What's a meal fit for the POTUS and the entire national championship-winning Clemson football team? Probably a load of world-class steaks catered by a Michelin 5-star restaurant right? Or you could opt for Wendy's.
Yeah, Wendy's. Seriously?!
Trump is a notorious fast-food lover, but we didn't think he would go this far.
Prior to Monday's gathering, Trump said the meal could include McDonalds, Wendy’s, Burger King as well as pizza. When asked about his decision he said, “I would think that’s their favorite food.”
White House says President Trump "is personally paying for” event with National Champions Clemson tonight "to be catered with some of everyone’s favorite fast foods,” because "much of the residence staff at the White House is furloughed” due to the ongoing government shutdown. pic.twitter.com/qeMc4iSKmG— NBC News (@NBCNews) January 14, 2019
Ok... but you would think the Tigers might've been expecting something a bit more upscale. Don't get me wrong, we all love a good McDouble from time to time, but it would probably feel weird mowing one down in the White House.
If Trump was looking for the most economical meal for the occasion, he would be hard-pressed to do better than this.
Maybe a couple hundred packs of Ramen noodles? Chick-Fil-A?
For such an incredible experience for the Clemson football players, they were hardly treated with a special meal Monday evening.
