With the news breaking of Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell having interest in transferring from the school, the 20-year-old Buckeye updated his Twitter profile to make his intentions known to the world.
Does this mean he's for sure leaving Columbus?
Martell updated the bio on his Twitter account, as it now just states that he's a "Quarterback at..." instead of saying he's a quarterback at Ohio State. Interesting.
Half of Tathan's Twitter bio got sucked into the Transfer Portal I guess pic.twitter.com/vRfD7XlkbJ— no samming (@RealFakeSamDunn) January 11, 2019
The redshirt freshman recently entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Even though his name is in the portal, he doesn't have to transfer if he has a change of heart.
If Martell does indeed decide to pursue finishing his career elsewhere, Miami and Virginia have already emerged as potential landing spots.
Can confirm that Tate Martell is now in the NCAA transfer portal. He’ll begin to explore options outside of Ohio State — believe Miami and West Virginia are two schools that are worth watching.— Jeremy Birmingham (@Birm) January 10, 2019
In late December, Martell said he was 100 percent confident he'd be able to win the starting job in 2019 for OSU. However, Justin Fields has since transferred from Georgia to Ohio State and is hoping to be eligible to play next season.
Fields would immediately emerge as a favorite to win the starting job, which many believe is the reason why Martell is now thinking about playing elsewhere.
