The New York Yankees have stolen players from the New York Mets such as Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden and David Cone in the past. Now, they've stolen an analytics expert from their cross-town rival.
Andy Martino reported on Thursday evening that the Yankees have hired analyst Chris Pang away from the Mets.

Pang worked as a full-time analytics member under former Mets general manager Sandy Alderson. Since Alderson stepped down from the GM position after the 2018 season, new Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen and his front office decided not to retain Pang.
This is what the Yankees offseason has come to. Instead of signing Manny Machado and/or Bryce Harper, the Bronx Bombers instead have acquired another analytics person.
The Yankees and general manager Brian Cashman are one of the many teams in the MLB that have embraced the analytics movement, which is evident by this hire of Pang.
