The Chargers got their revenge on the Ravens with a statement road win in the opening round of the playoffs. Their next challenge will be a lot different, as they travel to Foxborough to take on Patriots in the AFC Divisional Round.

The Patriots have yet to lose a home game this season, and while the Chargers have been outstanding on the road, Gillette Stadium has proven to be an extremely difficult place for opposing teams to win. Since 2013, the Pats have gone 42-6 in front of their home crowd in the regular season, as well as 8-0 in the postseason. The game is expected to see some inclement weather, which could play a big role in the matchup's outcome.

Game Preview

Philip Rivers has never won a head-to-head matchup with Tom Brady but he's looking to rewrite history this weekend. The Chargers offense was tied for sixth place in the league in terms of points per game, averaging 26.8 this season. They ranked 10th in the league in passing yards and 15th in rushing yards.

Their defense has been excellent, however. The Chargers defensive unit ranked eighth in the league during the regular season, allowing 20.6 points per game. They allowed the ninth-fewest rushing yards to opposing offenses and were tied for the sixth-fewest touchdowns allowed on the ground.

The Patriots will be led, once again, by Tom Brady as the 41-year-old looks to guide them back to the Super Bowl to avenge last season's meltdown. The Patriots' 27.3 points per game ranked fourth across the league and they were a top-five unit when it came to running the ball as well, thanks to the emergence of Sony Michel.

The defense recorded 18 interceptions, the fourth-highest tally in the league, while forcing 16 fumbles, a stat which seats them in the top 10. Their weak point on defense was their line, which sacked opposing quarterbacks just 30 times all season. The only team worse in that category was the Raiders, who logged just 13 sacks.

How Can I Watch or Stream this Game?

The game will be broadcasted nationally by CBS and will also be available via Fubo or Roku. It can also be found on Reddit's NFL Streams

History doesn't favor Rivers or the Chargers in this matchup, but at some point the Patriots will have to be overthrown at home in the postseason. The Chargers are one of the most well-rounded teams in the league and if Philip Rivers has time to let plays develop in the pocket then they can penetrate the Patriots defensive unit. Brady is getting older and he hasn't looked quite as formidable as he has in recent seasons. Perhaps this matchup will start the downfall of the Patriots' dynasty.
