While the defense has been excellent and Philip Rivers is still slinging it all over the field, the Chargers running game has been one of the biggest factors in their recent success. The 1-2 punch of Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler has totally revolutionized the LA offense.
They're going to need every bit of that against a stout Ravens defense on Sunday. Despite a nagging groin injury, Ekeler will suit up and play in their Wild Card matchup.

The fact he's even on an NFL roster is a minor miracle. In college, Ekeler attended the 2,400-student, Division II Western Colorado University. He's gone from a UDFA tryout with the Chargers to an indispensable part of their offense.
He's run for 552 yards on 5.2 yards per carry and scored three times on the ground. As a receiver, he piled up 404 yards and three more scores.
A date with Wink Martindale and the vaunted Ravens defense looms. If the Chargers want to escape Baltimore and get a crack at the Patriots, Ekeler will need to make some plays.
