The Boston Celtics are going to need to remain on track against the Western Conference. They've received a nice break in the meantime.

With the San Antonio Spurs next up to the plate following a recent win against Memphis, the Celtics have the benefit of missing out on a key contributor.

Rudy Gay is out with a sprained wrist.

The Spurs just received good injury news with  Pau Gasol returning but this takes San Antonio by surprise. In a tight Western Conference, the Spurs can't afford to miss out on any games.

Gay went down with a wrist injury during the Clippers and is considered day-to-day. On the season, Gay has been more than solid with 13.7 points per game, 6.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and nearly a steal a game. This team goes as far as DeRozan and Aldridge take them, but they need role players like Gay to keep them afloat.

It's going to be easier for Christmas Kyrie to remain affective without a versatile defender like Gay bothering him.
