Baker Mayfield is still a rookie but he's already proving to be one of the most polarizing players in the league. He's made his stance clear on various topics and already admitted that he's not looking to make friends outside of the Browns' locker room. One former wide receiver hasn't found Mayfield's flare to be all that exciting, as T.J. Houshmandzadeh appeared on 'The Herd' and made some pretty questionable comments regarding the former No. 1 overall pick.
Houshmandzadeh said, around the 2:58 mark, that if he were a defensive player in the NFL, he would "take a fine" and would hit Mayfield late on purpose.
That's an incredibly idiotic take from Houshmandzadeh. Mayfield is making the league more fun and has brought the Browns out of their multi-year slump. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and more passion in his game than arguably anyone else in the league, yet the former Bengals wideout suggested that he would effectively try to injure Mayfield, given the opportunity.
I’m not a browns fan...but he’s already better than you ever were in Cincy @ tj houshmandzadeh https://t.co/Rdd4LbIO0x— (@GroovyGhost88) December 27, 2018
Houshmandzadeh continued on to say that "if he was on my team, I probably would like it."
Mayfield's teammates are probably in full support of his antics as they know he is arguably the most loyal player in the locker room. Houshmandzadeh needs to calm down with his egregious take here and just let Mayfield keep playing with the swagger most of us love.
