Maybe Michigan will finally figure things out next season now that they have their quarterback at the helm.
This team has one more date against the Florida Gators in the Peach Bowl before they wrap up their season, but they're already expecting big things for 2019 thanks to the man lining up behind center.
Shea Patterson announced he'll be returning to Michigan for his senior season.
Having an experienced quarterback returning is a huge difference-maker in college football. Patterson had a phenomenal junior year for the Wolverines, with career-best numbers at completion percentage, yards, and touchdown passes. Despite his interest in the NFL, he wasn't expected to be a high draft pick, and his performance against a tough Ohio State defense didn't help.
Speaking of the Buckeyes, they're actually a huge reason why Michigan already has a huge advantage with Patterson returning.
“I just thought to myself there’s no way in hell I’m leaving this place on that note. Regardless of a draft grade ... I would never end my career with an opportunity to come back with a loss to that team” — Patterson said the OSU loss was part of his decision to return https://t.co/6XIeqmvyCI— angelique (@chengelis) December 21, 2018
If Patterson and the Wolverines beat the Buckeyes, there's no telling what Patterson would've done with Michigan heading to the College Football Playoff.
Michigan fans always convince themselves that next year is their year, and that may actually be true with Patterson around.
