It appears that we are coming closer to finding out where superstar Manny Machado will play next season.

After touring Yankee Stadium in his visit with the Bronx Bombers and grabbing dinner with Yankees luminaries like Carlos Beltran, Machado was out and about in Philadelphia, visiting Citizens Bank Park and meeting Phillies GM Matt Klentak.

According to Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports, the Phillies are taking Machado to dinner in the hopes of potentially wooing the coveted shortstop.

It'll take more than some expensive steak and champagne to swing Machado away from the glitz and glamour of the Yankees. Vegas (and Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman) seems to believe that Machado will most likely don the pinstripes next season.

But the Phillies can without a doubt outspend the Yankees, and if that's what matters Machado will join the Phils.

Machado will give whomever he signs with elite offensive and defensive production from shortstop or third base. He slashed .297/.367/.538 with 37 home runs and 107 RBI for the Orioles and Dodgers in 2018.

The Phillies have a lot to offer Machado. Not only can they offer cash, but he'll be the marquee attraction in Philadelphia. In New York, he'd be relegated to the second or third option.

The Machado signing appears to be drawing near. No matter if he wears Yankee navy blue or Phillies red (or White Sox...black?), it'll be a seismic move that can shift the balance of the MLB.
